London Bridge: Family of Usman Khan 'shocked' by attack

Posted on:

The family of London Bridge attacker Usman Khan said they were "shocked and shocked" by what had happened and "completely condemned his actions".

They expressed condolences to the families of the victims in a statement

Khan was convicted of terrorism in 2012 and killed 25-year-old Jack Merritt and 23-year-old Saskia Jones during prisoner rehabilitation last Friday.

In addition, a porter who tried to fight Khan said he had agreed to the incident.

Working in the fishmonger's hall where Khan started his offensive, Lukaz said he grabbed a pole and tried to stop Khan from "instinctively acting."

"The actions of Usman have saddened and shocked us," Usman Khan's family said in a statement issued by the Metropolitan Police Department.

"We completely condemn his actions and express our condolences to the families of the victims and hope that all the injured will recover soon.

"We want to demand privacy for our family at this difficult time."

Lukasz was praised for his bravery during the attack, and he also issued a statement through Scotland Yard.

"I acted instinctively when the attack occurred. Now, I am satisfied with the entire traumatic event and hope that there will be room to do this work in private with the support of my family."

The statement confirmed that Lucas was stabbed by sweat and taken to hospital, but has now returned to his home.

"Heroes" praised for facing bridge attackers

He added: "I extend my condolences to the families who lost their precious loved ones. I would like to extend my best wishes to them and everyone who has suffered this tragic and meaningless attack."

Lucas said, contrary to some reports, he used a pole to deal with Khan, while others used narwhal ivory to try to stop the attack.

Two women were also injured in the attack, which remained stable in hospital until Khan was shot dead by armed men in front of the London Bridge.

Khan, 28, was arrested in December 2010 and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2012 for detention on the grounds of "public protection" on charges of preparing for a terrorist act with a minimum sentence of eight years.

He was a member of a group inspired by Al Qaeda that considered attacks in the UK, including the London Stock Exchange.

But in 2013, the appeals court cancelled the sentence, changing it to a fixed 16-year sentence and ordering Khan to serve at least half of his sentence, or eight years in prison.

Khan has lived in Stafford since his release in December 2018 and must wear a GPS police tag.

During Friday's attack in the fishmonger's hall, he was armed with two knives and was wearing a fake suicide vest.

Before he was shot dead by police, he was attacked by the public, including former conference criminals.

London Bridge: we know

What we know about London Bridge attackers

When Cambridge student Merritt's girlfriend Leanne O'Brien was killed, she paid tribute to her partner on Facebook: "My lover, you are extraordinary and open to society. Many doors, ".

On Monday, Ms. O'Brien and Mr. Merritt's family gathered at a vigil rally in Cambridge to mourn the victims whose tears burst.

Merritt's father, David, also wrote an article in the Guardian dedicated to his "intelligent and intelligent" and "loyal and loyal" sons.

Ms. Jones, from Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, was also killed. She is a volunteer for the "Learn Together" program, which is celebrating its anniversary.

She was once described as a "fearless" "cute, lovely woman" by a former mentor.

Friday's attack sparked political disputes over the release of Khan and sparked debate over the criminal justice system.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been accused of "attempting to use" the attack "for political gain."

He blamed the release of Khan on legislation proposed by the "left-handed government" and called for an extension of the sentence and an end to automatic release.

Mr. Johnson denied that he had politicized the attack, saying he had worked for a period of early release and had previously raised the issue during his 2012 campaign for the mayor of London.

He said he felt "great sympathy" with the relatives of the victims.
